Getting started: a tour of your fonea dashboard (with video)
Last updated 29 July 2026
New to fonea? In this short video our founder Semir Jahic walks you through the dashboard – the video is spoken in Swiss German, and this article covers the same tour step by step in English.
In short: You log in, see every call in the call list with a summary and audio, and set your greeting, voice and system prompt in the voice configuration. The system prompt is the only thing that really needs to be set – and we already set it up for you. Once configured, fonea runs by itself: the AI picks up, and you receive an email summary after every call.
Logging in
Sign in with your credentials at the top right of the website. Your dashboard is then available to you – everything you do with fonea happens here.
Overview and call list: what's coming in
The overview shows at a glance which calls came in and how much call volume was used.
The most interesting section is the call list: all calls from the last few days, with the caller's number (except for withheld numbers), the call duration and a short summary. Open a call to see the details – the full summary of the conversation, and you can even listen to the recording.
You don't need the dashboard for this, though: after every call you automatically receive an email summary. How the whole flow works, from the call to the email, is covered in How the assistant answers calls.
The voice configuration: the heart of it
For every number we issue to you there is a voice configuration. This is where you decide how your assistant behaves on the phone:
- Test call. Try your assistant directly in the browser at any time – without phoning the number. Ideal after every change.
- Language and voice. Choose your assistant's default language (including Swiss German) and a voice that fits your business – more in Choosing the right voice.
- Greeting message. Define how your assistant answers, for example "Grüezi, this is Emma, the digital assistant" – separately per language, including Swiss German dialect.
- System prompt. The core piece: this is where you describe what your assistant should and shouldn't do. We already set it up for you – based on your website and our conversations – so you can get going right away. Adjusting it is still worthwhile: see Setting up instructions for your assistant. And we're always happy to help.
- Email recipients. Decide who receives the summaries, and adjust the subject line and layout of the email if you like.
- Calendar. Connect your calendar and choose which appointment types your assistant may book – the guide: Connect your calendar to fonea.
Within a few minutes, this one screen is where your entire assistant is configured.
Your phone number
Under Phone numbers you'll see the number we issued for you. As soon as a call reaches this number, your assistant picks up. To have it step in when you can't answer on your existing number, set up call forwarding once: Connect your existing number to fonea.
Settings
The Settings area covers the general things:
- an overview of your business (also read in from your website),
- the calendar connection across different calendar platforms,
- your notifications,
- how your data is handled and when it is deleted,
- managing your subscription,
- and password and account.
Day to day
Once set up, fonea runs by itself – you probably won't need the dashboard very often. When someone calls your number, the AI picks up, handles the conversation, and you receive the summary by email. You really only return to the dashboard to adjust settings or review calls in detail.
