Speech-to-Text
The call is transcribed in real time — via ElevenLabs on European servers in Germany. Transient, no voice profiles.
Language understanding and reply
Large language models (Claude, GPT, Gemini) understand the intent and formulate the reply. Models run in European regions; your call data is not used for training.
Text-to-Speech
The reply is converted back to natural speech. You choose the voice — friendly, factual, regional.

How long does setup really take?
About 30 minutes. Kickoff, scripting, calendar connection, and test calls all happen in one session — then fonea is live. Script fine-tuning is ongoing and available anytime in the dashboard.
What do I need to do technically?
Very little. The one thing that matters: you need access to your carrier portal (Swisscom/Sunrise/Salt) to activate call forwarding — we provide the instructions. Everything else (calendar, CRM, scripts) we configure with you.
Do I have to change my phone number?
No. You keep your number. fonea receives incoming calls via forwarding — always, on busy, or on no-answer.
Does fonea work with my practice/firm software?
fonea connects out of the box to Google Calendar, Microsoft 365, Apple Calendar, and Cal.com. Industry-specific software (electronic health records, law firm tools, PMS) we connect on request via webhook or API.
What happens with sensitive matters?
fonea recognises its limits. For complex or emotionally charged topics, it captures context and callback details and hands off a task to the right person — by email, Teams, Slack, or SMS.
Can I turn fonea off anytime?
Yes. Call forwarding is simply deactivated, and calls land directly with you again. You can also define time-of-day rules.
How do I learn to maintain fonea myself?
After go-live you get an admin login. There you change scripts, business hours, and escalation rules yourself. For larger changes we help — by email on Basic, including video call on higher tiers.
